Last years pukkelpop started for me with Bonde Do Role. Marina is such an amazing singer. She doesn’t have an incredible voice, but she was the best frontwoman Bonde Do Role could have wished for. What an energy on the stage! You can imagine I was really sad when I heard that she left Bonde Do Role sometime during the past year.
After she left, she left a gap that no woman could fill up. Bonde Do Role held auditions on MTV Brazil to find a new frontwoman. I like to think they didn’t find someone good enough to replace Marina, and instead they picked 2 girls and forced them to copy everything that makes a good Marina. That thought only became stronger when I saw Bonde Do Role with the two new girls on Dour this year.
I wonder what Marina is up to right now.

When I saw Esau Mwamwaya recently in London, I believe she added backing vocals for a few songs. She’s apparently appearing on his album but I guess it could have been someone else.
