“Born in Paris in 2000 Surface to air is a creative studio/boutique operating in art, fashion and communication”
That is what the introduction on their site says, they truly are a bit of everything.
The first aspect is their fashion collection, both women and men, plus an accessories collection. For women you’ll find coats, dresses, jeans, jackets, tops,…. and as well for men coats, shirts, polos, jackets and jeans. I’m in love with this dress:

But what surprised me the most is that they had a little collaboration with Justice, which resulted in the making of Gaspard and Xavier’s dream jackets. The whole collection consists of 3 leather jackets and 2 skinny jeans. It is limited though and only available at select locations. It is a ‘bit’ expensive, so I’ll never get my hands on one, but my favourite jacket is this:

The second aspect is studio, containing a group of art directors. They’ve worked with Marc jacobs, Tsumori Chisato, Chromeo, Midnight Juggernauts,…and many more. So they cover a lot of grounds: fashion, art and music!
The third aspect is film. The cousins Jeremie Rozan & Martial Schmeltz teamed up, which resulted in the making of commercials and music videos. They’ve done clips for Black Kids, Midnight juggernauts, Justice and Goose! You can watch the vid for Bring it on, by Goose here. And hey! don’t we all just love Goose.
I think we’re gonna hear a lot more of Surface 2 air in the near future and wish them all the best.
Luv,
P.

They are a great company, I believe they were born in New York City though. They still have a studio/showroom there, however the Parisian location opened later and has a boutique as well as a studio.
They work with some great brands, very talented!
The Justice collection was actually one of the highlights of the season for me.
And the music video’s are awesome.
Gordon Hull, Creative Director of Surface to Air New York, just designed a unisex kids line for S2A to be released this spring, some of it is out now on their online store. I got to look at some samples of the collection in New York at their Sample Sale and was impressed! Pretty much everything these guys touch turns to Gold!
I didn’t know until recently that they work closely with vice magazine on creative direction. Very cool stuff! Good post.
thanx for all this information!
they are indeed very talented
I’m keeping an eye open for new stuff.
